When Lincoln Plaza Cinemas closed on Jan. 28 after losing its lease, the Upper West Side of Manhattan mourned a beloved cultural landmark and the neighborhood’s only independent art theater. Now a film-loving group of volunteers has incorporated as New Plaza Cinema to carry on Lincoln Plaza’s legacy. New Plaza has begun seeking a site for a new theater. But it needs your help. Please consider contributing your time, money or skills.
As a start-up, we have certain immediate expenses – for example, to retain counsel to incorporate the Coalition, and to implement PR and fund-raising efforts. These initial costs are modest compared to the investor funds we will ultimately need for the new theater, and we are relying on our members and the public to help. We thank you in advance for your generosity!
A crowdfunding page is under construction.
